GEENA DAVIS INSTITUTE ON GENDER IN MEDIA
Founded by Academy Award-winning actor and advocate Geena Davis, the Institute is the only research-based organization working within the media and entertainment industry to engage, educate, and influence the need to dramatically improve, gender balance, reduce stereotyping and create diverse female characters in entertainment targeting children 11 and under.
WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER
The Women’s Media Center—founded by Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Gloria Steinem—has the goal of making women visible and powerful in the media. The Women’s Media Center is training women and girls to be media ready and media savvy, monitoring and calling out media sexism, launching petitions, inviting watch-ins, organizing tweet-ups, and other activist campaigns.
CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF WOMEN IN TELEVISION AND FILM AT SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY
For more than a decade, researchers affiliated with the Center have provided individuals working in the entertainment industry and members of the public with extensive and forward-thinking research on the employment of women. Scholars at the Center conduct an extensive agenda of original research documenting women’s under-representation and investigating the reasons for the continuing gender inequities.
